YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Hair transplant FAQ

Explore short answers about assessment, preparation and recovery in Turkey. Your medical team will provide instructions tailored to your treatment.

Understanding hair transplants

What does a hair transplant do?

It moves your own hair follicles from a donor area to thinning areas. It redistributes existing hair rather than creating new follicles.

What is the difference between FUE and FUT?

FUE removes individual follicular units. FUT takes a strip of hair-bearing scalp that is divided into grafts. Both leave scars; the pattern differs. Ask which approach is appropriate for you.

Does a transplant stop future hair loss?

Your surrounding hair may continue to thin. Ask the doctor how future loss affects the proposed hairline and whether ongoing treatment should be considered.

How many grafts will I need?

Request an individual estimate after donor-area and scalp assessment. A higher number is not automatically better: ask how the plan protects your donor supply.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Ask about realistic coverage, limitations and the provider’s policy if growth or appearance does not meet expectations. Marketing percentages are not an individual prognosis.

Suitability and your assessment

How do I start with AestheticsBridge?

Contact Olivia with your goals and basic background. We can help collect the information requested by the medical team and coordinate a preliminary review.

Should I investigate my hair loss first?

Ask for a diagnosis before choosing surgery, especially if loss is recent, patchy or changing quickly. The clinician can advise whether investigations or other treatment should come first.

Can women enquire about hair restoration?

Yes. Ask for a medical assessment of the cause and pattern of loss, donor suitability and available options before deciding on a procedure.

Am I too young or too old?

Ask the doctor to assess your health, pattern and stability of hair loss, donor supply and long-term expectations. Age alone does not answer the suitability question.

What information should I share?

Provide your medical and surgical history, allergies, medicines, supplements, nicotine use and any previous hair treatment. Ask for a secure way to send photographs and reports.

Can photographs confirm the final plan?

Photographs can support an initial opinion. The treating clinician must confirm the plan after the necessary examination and assessments.

Preparing and travelling to Turkey

Will I know who is treating me?

Before booking, request the doctor’s full name, the exact facility and who performs each stage of the procedure. Ask how you can verify qualifications and discuss your questions with the doctor.

What does the package include?

Request a written, itemised quotation covering treatment, tests, medicines, hotel nights, transfers and follow-up. Inclusions vary by provider and agreed package.

How much will it cost?

Your written quotation should specify currency, proposed treatment, inclusions and possible extra charges. A starting price is not a final personalised offer.

How long should I stay in Istanbul?

Confirm your arrival, treatment, first care appointment and departure plan with the medical team before buying tickets. Allow flexibility if further assessment or care is needed.

Can you arrange hotels and transfers?

Accommodation and transfers can be coordinated according to your agreed plan. Check the hotel, number of nights and journeys included in your quotation.

Should I stop medicines, smoking or alcohol?

Request written preparation instructions from the treating team. Do not stop prescribed medication yourself; discuss all nicotine products, alcohol and supplements openly.

Should I shave my head before travelling?

Ask your treating clinic before shaving or cutting your hair. Follow its instructions for photographs, assessment and preparation.

On the day

Will I be awake during treatment?

Local anaesthetic is commonly used, sometimes with sedation. Discuss the proposed approach, discomfort and your medical history with the treating team.

Can I eat before the procedure?

Follow your own clinic’s food and drink instructions. Requirements can change with sedation or anaesthesia; do not use a general FAQ as fasting advice.

What should I wear?

Ask the clinic about comfortable clothing that can be removed without touching the treated scalp, such as a front-opening shirt.

How long does the appointment take?

Ask for the expected treatment and observation time for your plan. Keep the day free and check arrangements for breaks, meals and return transport.

What happens before I leave the clinic?

Ask for written care instructions, the medication plan, follow-up arrangements and an urgent contact. Confirm how to report problems and how to reach your hotel safely.

Recovery, results and follow-up

When can I wash my hair?

Follow the clinic’s dated washing instructions and demonstration. Avoid rubbing or disturbing grafts; ask which products and technique to use.

When can I work, exercise or swim?

Ask for individual return dates based on your healing, job and activity. Sweating, friction, water exposure and protective equipment may require different precautions.

Can I wear a hat or helmet?

Ask your treating team when and how it is safe. Anything pressing or rubbing on the treated area needs particular care.

Will transplanted hair shed?

Early shedding can occur before new growth. Ask for the expected timeline for your case and report anything that concerns you.

When will I see the result?

Growth takes months. The full result may take around 10–18 months; individual progress varies.

What risks should I discuss?

Discuss bleeding, infection, anaesthetic reactions, scarring and poor graft growth with your surgeon. Ask how complications would be recognised and treated.

How does follow-up work after I return home?

Confirm the responsible clinician, review schedule, photo-sharing channel and what is covered. Your coordinator can facilitate contact, while clinical concerns need the treating team’s advice.

What if I develop a problem?

Contact your treating team promptly for unexpected symptoms. Severe pain, worsening swelling, fever or concerning discharge need medical review. Seek local emergency care for urgent or severe symptoms rather than waiting for a message.
